AMERICAN A

19,00

Description

American A contains a selection of 80 photographs from a batch of 3,000 negatives. The photographs were acquired at an auction and originally belonged to various local and regional newspapers in the United States between 1950 and 1969. They were intended to illustrate local news; today, they offer documentation of different topics such as feminist movements, beatniks, countercultural and pacifist groups, among others.

The stories and the authors remain anonymous, as they have not been identified. However, their work serves as the starting point for more than 200 artists, writers, and contributors to develop the content of the following three books (American B, C & D). A source of inspiration and a document of a unique era.
