Description
Book A
American A contains a selection of 80 photographs from a batch of 3,000 negatives. The photographs were acquired at an auction and originally belonged to various local and regional newspapers in the United States between 1950 and 1969. They were intended to illustrate local news; today, they offer documentation of different topics such as feminist movements, beatniks, countercultural and pacifist groups, among others. The stories and the authors remain anonymous, as they have not been identified, but their work serves as the starting point for more than 200 artists, writers, and contributors to develop the content of the following three books (American B, C & D). A source of inspiration and a document of a unique era.
Book B
American B includes more than 100 contemporary photographers from over 25 countries, who created new works based on the photographic archive featured in American A. Within its pages, we find a wide range of styles, including photojournalism, fashion photography, and conceptualism, among others.
Book C
American C includes more than 30 contemporary writers who created new stories inspired by the photographic archive featured in American A. Within its pages, there is a variety of genres ranging from short stories to film scripts. Stories in English, Spanish, Italian, and German.
Book D
American D includes more than 50 contemporary artists who created new works inspired by the photographic archive featured in American A. The book also includes the participation of 8 architecture studios, which developed different architectural projects based on one of the photographs found in American A, depicting an Amish house.
