American A contains a selection of 80 photographs of a 3,000 negative batch. The photographs were acquired in an auction and belonged to different local and regional newspapers of the United States between 1950 and 1969. They were intended to illustrate local news, today we find documentation of different topics such as feminist movements, beatniks, countercultural and pacifist, among others. The stories and the authors remain anonymous since they could not be found, but their work is the starting point for more than 200 artists, writers and collaborators to develop the content of the following three books (American B, C & D ). A source of inspiration and a document from a unique era.
